UC Complete Colectomy with ileostomy bag 2008 January

Sleeve Gastrectomy "85% stomach removed from my body" 12/08

july and August 2012 new surgeon, j pouch created, complications with stoma inverting and reconnect 3 weeks later, 10 months to get my control back.

Feb 2014 gained 25 lbs and having difficulty with my bowels

my Dr does a pouchoscopy and everything looks good, no strictures or anything but I can't go to the bathroom and the lbs are packing on Me all in my gut area.

My Dr also sends me for a CT scan.  They find my small intestine and j pouch are perfect but I have some issues with my ovaries and cysts on my kidneys.  6/2014 I had a partial nephrectomy on my right kidney to remove Cancer.  Clear cell renal carcinoma.

Then on 12/2014 I had a complete hysterectomy due to a large pelvic mass growing bigger and absolutely no way of knowing if I have/don't have ovarian cancer or the start of it.  To many surgeries have created so much scar tissue in my abdomen area it was impossible do any kind of internal scopes.

I suffer from mental illness also, it's getting worse with each medical issue, depression, anxiety, traumas, phobias, sleep issues, PTSD, OCD. I started having night time bowel incontinence before my kidney surgery but only some days and that continued on and since my hysterectomy it's every night while I'm asleep it's like I don't even know it's happening, I dont feel it or anything and it doesn't wake me.  I go to the bathroom before bed to try to make sure I'm empty and I don't eat much most days not huge meals.

I feel like my small intestine is holding on to food for along time but other thing are passing.  My digestive track is a mess I have issues digesting fruits, veggies, whole wheats, lots of fibrous foods, medicines and many other things.  Looks the same as it did when it went in my mouth and if I'm not careful I could cause a blockage in my intestine.  Other people have UC with a j pouch and only a small intestine and have also had a sleeve surgery to their stomach and have no problems.  Body isn't working the way it should.

Could I have pouchitis?  Or maybe some infection in my intestine?  I really hate more Drs and more tests I am tapped out.  Now I'm wearing depends every night.  Please help if anyone has any info.  I don't know what to do!!!!!

If scopes and CT have not identified pouchitis, then you don't have it. But, you can still have bacterial overgrowth, which is treated the same, with antibiotics.

Another thing to look at is your medications. I suspect you are on a number of meds with GI effects. You may be having overlapping side effects that worsen the effects of pelvic floor weakness, which would be expected after your additional surgeries. If you are continent during the day, then that means that your sphincters are OK.

Regarding diet, don't worry about how things look coming out. Without a colon, it is common for foods not to change appearance much by the time they reach the end of the ileum. If you are maintaining or gaining weight, you are getting what you need from food.

You have had a lot of trauma in your life, so adjustment disorders can be expected. Unfortunately, they seem to take a long time to resolve. But, it seems like you have good insight with this, so that is half of the battle. I hope you have a good therapist and a good MD for ordering meds that are appropriate for you and your many health issues. I am so sorry you are struggling and I hope you can at least find some help here.
