I am having terrible gas and rectal/anal pain, urgency, frequency, which is watery, even though I'm taking 6-8 immodium a day and I'm eating bananas and peanut butter to slow things down, and thicken things up. I had takedown surgery on June 15. I seem to have been worse the last couple of weeks. Thanks for your help

Yes. Sadly looks like you are right. You most likely have pouchitis. Please visit your GI doc and get medications.

In my three year experience after j-pouch I know it well. Earlier the medicines are in your system better your chance in fighting pouchitis. Imodium is not giving you respite means you need probiotic, antibiotics or, anti inflammatory meds.
If the situation resolves itself, that would be the sweetest thing. But if not, keep posting about visit to doc and prescription.
I just got over pouchitis which I had for about 3 months and was finally given the right meds for 28 days. Ny GI said that with Pouchitis, Imodium had no affect.

Keep yourself hydrated with water. Eat more of a liquid meal like soup. Hopefully, you know what foods to avoid.

Also, if your on meds for Pouchitis, you should either not take Probiotics or wait about 6 hrs after the meds.

Rocket.
I saw the doctor today. He did a scope to look inside the pouch and said it looked like a mild case of pouchitis. He took biopsies, not sure why. I also did stool samples for the last three days, waiting for those results, checking for C-diff, etc.
Doctor gave me Cipro and said I should be doing better in two days. I pray he's right!
Thanks for your replies!
