Sunshine, I've been thinking the same thing.  I've been looking into them on Pintrest.  And I just found out a friend of mine is a dealer for one company.  I'm alway nervous about holoustic things but whatever you find out, please share I'm interested.  Or private message me and we can share information.  Thanks, dianne

There are two issues here. First, do they even work? There is some evidence that peppermint oil can be useful for IBS. But, that isn't what you are asking. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlin...nfo/natural/705.html

I have not seen anything from any verified source to indicate there is any real medicinal effect other than vague claims of "support" of optimum health.

The second issue is for those with IBD. IBD is a disease of an overactive immune system toward normal tissues and bacteria in the gut, with a variety of triggering mechanisms. My question would be, why on earth would you want to *strengthen* an already overactive immune system (assuming it actually does this)? Most treatments of active IBD involve suppressing this immune system.

Jan, you make a good point.  I do use Lavendar in a sachet for Jeff as a calming tool.  When his OCD and anixity is bad it does help calm him down a bit.  But I don't think I would give him or encourage him him to engest anything.  And now with the liver issue, I told him don't even bother with vitimans.  I'm too much of a nervous nelly.

As far as I am concerned, most of the nutraceutical products out there may be fine for perfectly healthy people (but if healthy, why would they need them?). However, if you have a chronic disease, you need to be very careful about taking things that claim to have a pharmeceutical effect, but are completely unregulated. My feeling is that if they worked, there would be evidence and they would be marketed that way. But, since it is more cost effective to skip the efficacy and safety testing, that is what these companies do. Some supplements may help in controlling symptoms or inflammation, but just understand what you are doing and be sure to do your research.

Do not rely on glowing claims from the company selling the product. Try to find some independent information, and hopefully not just individual anecdotes. And, whatever you do, buy from reputable companies. There are some companies that lace their products with illegal or unsafe additives. Know your source!

I was after oil with these properties: Antibacterial, anti inflammatory.  Something to remove the bad bacteria but keep the good ones. (antibiotics kills both). Trying to prevent pouchitis.  My research tells me Oregano does this in addition good to build immune system. I rub that on my feet each day (must use a carrier oil such as coconut oil with it) just mix 1 drop with enough oil to spread on bottom of feet.

Here are some my husband and I like.  Frankincense, Lavender, peppermint and oregano single oils and some blends as well for soar muscles and respiratory and disgest.

We also have 2 diffusers one in the bedroom and one in main living area.  Lavender is wonderful to hep with sleep (rub on bottom of feet as well as diffuse.  Also great in the bath for relaxation.

The other night I had nausea and rubbed blend on my belly.  Took care of it also immediately (ginger, peppermint caraway, coriander, anise, tarragon and fennel oil). Good thing the company sells this blend else I wouldn’t be buying all those oils to make it.  These things are costly.  I bought a kit that had 4, 5 ml bottle blends and 6 single oils and cost me 300.00 Can.  We also use a breath blend when we had coughs and it was very soothing.

So has it helped my digestive system?  My pouch? Yes, I believe so.  I would say Frankincense and Oregano and the Digest blend oils have done is settle my tummy.  I am not near as active, gurgles etc., and can sleep through the night more often.  I would say bottom line is you need to give it a try but do your research.

 Hope this helps.

Which ones have you used for what and did it help. I used the lemon 2 drops in water. Also the onguard one drop in shot glass of water. Could of been both or one that just seemed too much for my system because I have many bowel movements. I took with the vitamins too but think it was the first that gave me a problem.  I applied to bottom of my feet and another bottom of big right toe. Also breathed in drop of frankensense in my hands. Something made me feel like I do when I drink the stuff to clean out for J pouch to be scoped. Not a good feeling. Think its what I used internally so don't think I will do it again. My stomach also cramping. Any idea what I should stop? capsules I've taken EO Mega, vmz micro and alpha crs plus.  suppose to take 4 of each a day of the first 3. Thinking it might be too much. Really want to give it a good try but something I should not be doing. Any help will be appreciated!
