I have definitely heard of that before. My dad currently has diversion colitis. So basically, when the rectum or colon is not being used, it starts to get inflamed causing diversion colitis, and can even happen in the pouch as well.

Treatment for diversion colitis/pouchitis: Clean out with enemas in the rectal area once every 3-4 days. Treat with Mesalamine enemas: one enema twice daily, should clear everything up.

When is your takedown???

Thanks guys.  My takedown is May 6th.  I will try the Mesalamine enemas.  Good color.  My GI doctor recommended the same thing.  Scarily, the doctor thinks 80% chance it’s Diversion Pouchitis, and 20% chance it’s Crohn’s.  Having Crohn’s in there would be very sad for me.  I swear it feels exactly like colitis.  I had indeterminate Colitis to start with - so it’s possible.  Bummer

YAY!!! I am so happy! I understand how you feel but you are so close! I think you should try for the J-pouch, you are so close!

Remember to clean out your pouchy with enemas before using Meslamine.
