When having a jpouch surgery or a redo, which I will be having in October at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr Remzi, is there anything we can do to strengthen our intestine so that it will be in top shape for the surgery? Like vitamins, supplements, or diet? I want to be as healthy as I can going into this surgery. I have had issues with my current pouch which was "friable". I have read of things you can take for inflammation naturally. would anything like that help at all?? the GI's and surgeons never talk about that kind of stuff.

No sure if this will help you but I found that Silicium and/or silica helped me a lot...I do a huge vit/mineral regime pre-op and at any time that I am feeling weakened or immuno compromised (catching all bugs or constanly week and tired)...

I up my multi-vit, add calcium+D, vit B's, copper, zinc, chrome, mag etc...

A good mineral supplement helps, lots of fresh fruits & veggies, fresh juices and soups and lean protiens...plus as much exercise as you can get to keep your body strong.

No other ideas...a healthy attitude and some yoga may help as well.

Good luck

Sharon
