Constipation

I have severe constipation the last 2 year real hard and dry stools, I have a w-pouch what could be causing this I drink plenty of fluids ? Before my stools were really watery since I had my Colitis surgery in 1990, GI Doc says the portion of my small intestine going to the pouch is like mushed dead he thinks this is causing the issue in part but that doesn’t explain the dry hard stools?
