Hi guys,

I need some advice. I have had chronic diarea for about two months now. When it is really bad it's just liquid and then I can't go anywhere. I take immodium but the frequency is not the problem. I am also struggling with nausea. I'm not sure if it's my humera or from the diarea. I have flagged this to my ibd nurses and I will be seeing my doctor in a month. If anyone has any tips on how to fix this issues or even just help a little, I would be very grateful.

Thank you

I’m guessing that when you write “diarrhea” you mean that the stool is more liquid than you would like. If it’s pure liquid then it’s well worth fixing, but if it has more of a pudding consistency then it’s just fine. In any case, a good way to thicken and bulk up stool, if that’s what you’re trying to do, is soluble fiber. Many of us use psyllium (like Metamucil or Konsyl), and some use Benefiber or Citrucel.

Pouchitis isn’t exactly an infection, but it is treated with antibiotics. Unless there’s some urgency or leakage it wouldn’t be my first guess here, but it’s possible.

This seems to help me maintain a healthy pouch-Metamucil every morning & switching  to almond milk for most dairy alternatives. I go light on sugar as that tends to not agree with my pouch. In the past my liquid output was almost always food related and if I had pouchitus I felt awful (fluish)- that’s how I started to piece together my structures vs pouchitus, etc.     Hope you feel better.

Seems you have a mild pouchitis. I have it often if I increase of my dairy intake too much. I feel relieved when I cut it back. 2 glass is fine any more makes me run alot more and loosly too. Same with too much fried, salad or junk. I got myslef pysllium husk in raw form and now I take it twice once in morning and once at night helps alot. Also exercising reguraly too helped me bulk up the stool too. Simple walking 5k+ steps a day is very effective. I take no meds and 3 months post takedown I am going 7-8x a day mostly in morning and night.
