Can you get internal hemorrhoids with a J Pouch

Hello, I'm new this site and so glad I found it. I had my jpouch surgery (rectum removed) in 2005 and things have been fine since then but in the past few days I have been getting a lot of pain in the back passage when I have a bowel movement and also while seated. At times, the pain is horribly unbearable that I have to take time out for it to die down. It's sore during and immediately after bowel movements ( no blood). Passing stool itself is also very painful - It's painful at the back of the anus and I feel a throbbing/pulsing sensation afterwards.

Is it possible to get a hemmorrhoid in my case? I'd like to know what this might be and how to treat it. Over the past few days I have noticed that the pain has lessened though. Grateful for any help and advice, thank you.

You can indeed get hemorrhoids with a J-pouch. What you describe might be an anal fissure, though. In either case, try to manage the consistency of your stool so it’s easy to pass, and try very hard to avoid straining.
