Hey guys and gals. I am now 10 months post takedown and its been quite the rough road. Some ups and a whole lot of downs. Had my takedown in March of 2013 and didnt feel like I was able to go back to work till October because of alot of setbacks. So I went back to work and I was feeling really good and confident that I would finally on the path to returning to my normal self again. I worked up until the end of December and felt like my health was once again starting to decline. I have been having trouble eating, extreme body aches especially after a day of work, and significant amounts of fatigue to the point I am exhausted all the time. So I was wondering if anyone can relate to how crappy I feel now after having my takedown 10 months ago. I thought around the year mark I would feel like myself again. It doesnt seem to be going in that direction. I feel like im going backwards. Is this normal? Oh I had to back out of work again and go back on disability. Im so frustrated and disappointed in myself.

Have you been to your doctor lately to have blood work done? I have an anemia problem that hasn't resolved itself after surgery. That can leave you totally exhausted. It's important for them to not only check your hemaglobin but also your ferritin levels. If that all checks out ok then perhaps see a rheumatologist to speak about your body aches and pains (and the fatigue too). You shouldn't be going backwards in how you are feeling so I would get checked out. Have you had a pouch scope/check up yet since takedown?
I, too, have had the same issues bone pain, fatigue, vomiting, nausea and not sleeping well at all! I did not go back to work! My surgeon and GI are completely baffled with me! Headed for a second opinion from a GI next month! Had an EGD done in Dec. and found inflammation in esophagus and stomach. I was given sucralfate 1 GM to take 4 x a day. That seems to be helping! Still go 4 to 10 times a day depending on how much to eat. I really have tried everything Eastern and Western med. Feel poison at times.
Do not want surgery for cuffitis or j pouch
removal! Trying everything to not go there!
When I had UC I did not have the bone pain and fatigue I have now! I feel I am still battling but doing my best to live life!

Please don't let yourself get frustrated and disappointed. You're just along for the ride while your body heals, there is no benefit from placing the blame on yourself, IMO. Just adds stress. . . and stress can complicate the healing process.

I think it took me about 18 months to get to where I felt like 100% again. My surgeries were all pretty close together though, so that might account for the length of time it took me to fell 100% again.
