Dr. Jennifer Irani at Brigham and Women's in Boston. She's a no BS kind of sugeon who is incredibly intelligent and compassionate. I had an AMAZING experience with her over the course of my three surgeries, and I look forward to continuing my follow ups with her. She also ensured to ask me if I wanted children in the future (yes!) and took that into account during surgery, which I am very grateful for.

My surgery was not technically emergent but was also not really elective (severe rapid on-set UC) - they did what they needed to do to remove my entire colon and it ended up being partially laparoscopic, which I knew may happen and was okay with. I have a small incision which has healed beautifully.

I have had no issues at all with my pouch, which is almost two years old.

Best,

Laura

for what it's worth.  i would never go back to irani, and did not have her do any surgery.  personal opinions differ.  i did like dr. nagle at bidmc, although in the end went to cleveland.  dr critchlow, bidmc did my j pouch in 99 and there were problems with it that eventually lead to my needing to have it removed.  so there you have it.....  j
