Burning with Calmoseptine ?

Yes I had the same thing happen. I hate the cream. I use zinc 40% and dubicaine cream together. It is awesome. I had to order the dubicaine cream but I think you can get it now at CVS. I use Target Up Zinc Cream with the highest strength and I believe it is 40%. Good Luck.

I found Calmoseptine too intense. My favorite was Ferguson formula, but plain zinc oxide did the trick, too.

I just got some Calmoseptine yesterday and found the same thing! I felt like there was a candy cane in my bum!

I have to say though, that I am very pleased with the results. I was having burning for days, but today things are much better after using it.

I like it better than the Sudocreme I was using.

Calmoseptine has 0.44% menthol as an active ingredient....so that sensation is the menthol working. I find it very soothing and for me it stops the itch factor in its tracks. It seems either you love the stuff or you hate it. I can't live without it!

That is why I had a hard time warming up to it; I had to get through the little burn first.

I had the same burning happen to me when I used it, could not continue, it made my butt red hot and it was very red.

Yeah, it burned on me and did nothing for the itch. I switched to A&D ointment and that was much more soothing. Some are just sensitive to the menthol.

Personally, I love Calmoseptine and it's the only thing I use now, but I can see that some people would find the menthol component too strong. I would imagine that if your skin is particularly raw or broken, the menthol may burn.

You could try Desitin - it has 40% zinc oxide but no menthol. I've used it in the past. However, it has cod liver oil as an ingredient, and personally I didn't find the smell particularly pleasant, though I admit the cream did the trick in soothing the irritation.
