Hi,

I have been on Remicade for a year. Recently, I've developed multiple bruises on the sides and back of my calves. The doc at the infusion center has sent me to a dermatologist. He also mentioned Wegener's. I became pretty upset when he said that. He was very blase about it. I pushed him to be more specific. I didn't think it was very professional to drop something like that on someone without explaining yourself. I read about Wegener's and I don't think I have it. Anyone have any thoughts? VERY much appreciate your time.

How have your blood counts been? I presume you have been tested the standard every three months? If blood counts are good, then maybe it is time for some coagulation studies. I had some episodes of increased bruising while on biologics. Coagulations studies were normal. Liver and kidney functions normal. Blood counts normal. Dermatologist thought one thing (idiopathic purpura), then another (eczema), then another (fungal). Finally, just wound up scratching his head. This stuff just seems to ebb and flow with me. As long as my bone marrow is working and I am otherwise OK, I just accept the fact that I am a puzzle...

I know, not a very good answer, but that's my story...

I don't have any advice on the bruising but don't make yourself worried sick with the suggestion of Wegener's. A doctor made me all worked up once too with mention of that disease (put me through testing for it as well) and of course I didn't have it. It's very rare. And yes you are right, they shouldn't throw this stuff out there with out being thorough.
