bloody stool

Please think back to your ostomy days and tell me if this is normal. I had my permanent ileostomy about 6 weeks ago. I noticed about once a day, my stool has a bloody look/color to it. I don't wear a clear bag, so I can't see what's going on inside. Is it normal for the stool to be bloody? I know the ostomy bleeds easily when touched. I am a bit worried.

First, are you sure you didn't eat / drink anything red?
How much of the blood was there? I did noticed a little blood at times from my stoma but there wasn't a lot of it.

I had my end ileo about the same time and have had no noticeable blood since the early days. Beets and such do color it at times. The stoma bleeds a bit when cleaning and changing appliance but this is minimal. If you cant relate it to diet or trauma I would think you need to inform your surgeon.

I am sure I haven't eaten anything red. I see my surgeon on Monday. I will discuss with him, but now I am really nervous!
