My son had a total colectomy on Aug 1 (agee 15). He now has a temporary ileostomy bag. Twice now, it looked like he had blood in his stool (noticed when he emptied his ostomy). Has anyone experienced this? He is 21 days post-op.

Probably residual blood from the surgery...give the surgeon or ostomy nurse a call to ease your mind... :-)
If he also had j-pouch creation with this surgery then most probably it's blood from major work done inside. I also had blood coming in the bag a couple of times to which surgeon said the blood was backing up instead of going down and out from the bottom.
I would suggest you call surgeon to make sure it's nothing serious.

also.. think about what he ate or drank. It can be quite scary sometimes.. but your output sometimes mimics your food. Beets.. for example.
