I’ve had my j pouch since 2004. I was a two surgery person. I’ve had blockages before but none in almost 5 years until about 2 months ago. That one was very distinct. I now feel something like it but not the same pain. I felt a lot of bloating and gas pain 3 hours ago but it has subsided some. I’m not able to go like normal but I have not eaten a lot today but still I feel something. Is it necessary to go if I’m not sure and wait a while. I get nervous because most of what I have is some inflammation and pouchitis. Just wanted some input. It has been about 8 hours since I felt like it might be a blockage. Thanks for any advice.

The two key risks with a blockage are dehydration and bowel damage (rupture or blood supply cut off). If you are able to stay hydrated, not vomiting, don’t have a high fever, and the discomfort isn’t extreme then you may likely be fine (i.e. miserable) at home.

Thanks Scott. I am at home still feeling drained but my blockage has been clearly slowly since this morning. I’m in Arizona. I looked to you dedicated members for my solution and it worked. This is a first for me so thanks again. I feel I’m out of the woods. Just to be safe I am continuing my clear liquid diet until I feel like myself again. I’ve gotten used to being hungry and drinking tons of fluids. You’re definitely an angel to me 😊☺️
