Hi, I am about 4 weeks post takedown.  Have some pretty good butt burn and am going to invest in a bidet (pasta sauce and chocolate seem to be the biggest culprits).

I'll be buying one of the many toilet seat bidet add ons that are available.

Anyone have any opinions on whether I need a heated water/dryer bidet?  I don't have an electrical plug near the toilet and am debating just going for a basic bidet with no heating.

Thanks!

I have had seat bidets on all my toilets for years (long before I even knew I had UC) and all of them are regular, not heated.  Those would be nice, but not needed.  bidets are a life saver (or butt saver) now that I have a pouch.  I just had to have a fistulotomy so the spray is too much right now, but I cannot wait to get back to normal so I can use the bidet. You feel so clean!

I have a Luxe Bidet, non electric and not heated. As JKC said, it would be nice but I find this inexpensive (about $40), easy to install model works perfectly. A word of advice, if you go this route however, do not turn it past the 'low' pressure. I'm not sure why it is made to be so powerful. I also bought a 'portable' bidet which is essentially a plastic bottle with a spray nozzle but I find it works really well too (although the opposite is true of its power level).

I have a Coco bidet that I have used literally thousands of times and it amazes me how dependable it is at five years old!   On the down side, it is higher-end cost.  (I have the remote one, control (batteries) on the wall -- I think 9500R?)

I do use the higher pressure fairly often on mine, but as Scott said, some of the features are excess conveniences -- nice to have but not mandatory.  I do not use the heated seat function very often, and I find the dryer way too slow to be effective and just dab TP, instead.  Lastly, I think the heated water capability would almost be a requirement for me.  I do use all the temp adjustments.

I know there are some pretty good options out there!  When I travel I do take a bottle, but I really miss my bidet!

I'm enough lucky to live in Italy, one of the very few countries where a "bidet" is part of the standard equipment of every house, and not an optional.

In any case I can't advise you nothing else then: "buy one, and buy the very best you can afford"! I don't know how would I live without one and am sure that my butt thanks me every single time I use it!

I have an intelliseat...best thing I have ever bought.  While I would say any bidet is good, having a choice on water temperature is definitely a plus...I would rather not get a cold spray on a winter morning.  If you are able, get the outlet put in near the toilet and treat yourself...at the very least with all you have been through you deserve it.

Cooked tomato sauce was a big irritant for me right after the J-pouch surgery. I was scared to try it, but recently have (4 years later!) and can handle it now. I have a hand-held bidet that was inexpensive, not fancy, and easy to install. There is no heating, but I am okay with that. (I, too, don't have a plug beside the toilet. If I did, I would go for heat.)

I have a luxe bidet as well (from Amazon), and love it.  Just cold water, but it helps so much with the burn.  I still get the burn now and then, but I know (from travelling) that it would be so much worse without the bidet.  I don't think I'd have the patience to wait around for the blower to do its job, and I have absolutely no problem with the cold water (although I can imagine warm water would feel quite nice).
