Hi Guys,
I am State-side to visit with my Dad and have been strictly following my exercise routine to try to bring an end to all of the awful, mindblowing back pain...well...for now, the 3 pronged attack seems to be helping but will I be able to maintain it once I get back home?
I am swimming for 2 hrs every morning doing about 1hr of aqua-gym, mostly leg movements while using a floaty so that there is absolutely no pressure on my spine (leg scissors: virtical & horizontal, done frontwards and backwards, push ups & pull ups off of the pool steps & stairs, twists etc) plus 1 hr of laps using a modified breast stroke (I kick the leg but do the normal arm movement).
I also do tons of ab work in the water with the floaty trying to reinforce my abs to support my spine.
I lowered and modified my pouch input to keep it mostly empty and fight inflation and I had started taking Lyrica 1xs/day for perifiral pain.
By last week I noticed that 85% of my pain was gone and that I even had some pain-free days!!!!!
Hubby was over the moon when he arrived to find a wife who could sit down or stand up without tears rolling down her face...I even managed to turn over in bed without screaming! (not the good wayWink).
I have to taper off of the Lyrica because I only had a 2 month script and want to see if it is part of the improvement or not...for now the pain is back a bit (still on 1 every other day) but not sure if it is the stress of my dad being in hospital or the movements that I do to lift him up in the bed or the meds.
Will keep you posted.
I only have a short time left here so I am doubling up on the swims, trying to get some night sessions in while I can and avoiding too many carbs or bulking foods.
I have long suspected that my pouch is part of the problem considering where it sit (really low down on the abdomen, crushing my uterus and pushing on the sacro-iliac) so keeping it inflamation-free and light is a great thing.
The only negative/positive is the fact that I am driving here (can't in France) so I am pulling on the sciatic but it isn't effecting me as badly as usual and I am being very careful.
Let's see if I can maintain this...drugs or exercise or both?
Sharon

Thanks for the suggestions Lamb,
Today the back is 'tighter' now that the dose of the Lyrica is lower...I am feeling tighness and stress in parts of it...not sleeping as well either but I am chalking that up to daddy-stress (good hospital but bad situation)...
Walked way too much yesterday and my foot isn't 100% back to normal so it throws me off...praying that I don't go back to my 'bad normal' once off these meds...it was so lovely to sleep through the night and not suffer.
The experiment continues...
