I recently had a pouch redo. After the surgery I developed a hole at the hook-up (again) that leads back to a nice big cavity that they just cleaned out during the surgery. My surgeons put a mushroom drain in the cavity and one in the j-pouch. It's been a month and I definitely feel healthier than before the redo, but these drains (I call them my squirrel tail) are so uncomfortable as they are safety pinned to my tender booty hole. Has anyone else had rectal mushroom drains to treat an ongoing abscess and any encouraging advice? Sometimes I feel like the light at the end of the tunnel is a train and maybe I should just scrap this whole j-pouch idea.

On the plus side, for the most part my out-of-state medicaid woes are solved and I'm able to continue treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. Makes me want to climb at the top of a mountain and scream not to give up and settle if you're not getting the healthcare you need, but I don't have a mountain. Hit me up if anyone is in California and fighting for coverage. I'm happy to share what I've learned.
