Hi,

I have had a jpouch for 5 years with numerous issues. I recently developed a nodule on my thyroid that was determined benign and I had it drained. It was a blood filled cyst. The cyst went down a bit for a week or so, but feels large again. I also have ringing in my right ear (the side of my neck the cyst is on) which coupled with a lot of hair poss over the last 6 months brought me to the ENT.

My tsh and thyroid antibiody tests came back negative. I have been losing hair like crazy and i am going to get a second opinion from another endocrinologist as I have read I should have more thorough thyrod testing than I have so far (t,3 t,4 etc),

Has anyone experiend this since jpouch surgery? I have read it can also be caused by inflammation or low iodine and I am certain my jpouch is inflamed often due to my ongoing symptoms and pouchoscopies.

I had hypothyroidism before the surgeries but afterwards it went crazy.  My dosage could not hold steady and I was getting a different strength every 3 or 4 months.  I also had hair loss but part of that was due to going under for the surgeries.  My GI was adamant that it be under control as the swings I was having were not good for my j-pouch function.  A lot of it had to do with weight loss too.  So there are many factors and I think going to a new doctor for a second opinion might be the way to go.
