Hello all. I am new to this group. I have been on antibiotics since before my take down surgery 6 months ago. I believe I have chronic pouchitis Frowner

I have 3 questions: Has anyone been on antibiotics consistently and taken birth control?

How hard is it to get pregnant after having these surgeries?

How does long term antibiotic use affect pregnancies?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was on antibiotics my whole pregnancy and while trying to conceive. The antibiotics and surgery did not impact my ability to become pregnant. There are only two antibiotics that I know of that are effective and safe during pregnancy...Augmentin and Flagyl, but Flagyl is not OK first trimester. I have never been on birth control so can't offer advice there.
I'm currently on Cipro and SeasonqueLO (birth control). I have no problems at all, and the birth control is working. It is the kind where I'm supposed to have 4 period/year, but it is working so well I don't get a period at all. My gyn is fine with this. I have also taken Flagyl without problems.

I do not plan on having children, so I don't know about your changes of pregnancy when coming off. I'm sure it would be the same as any other J-pouch lady.
