Hi angie I am 2 weeks post takedown. Had leakages for first week but its very much controlable now. I have like 7-8 BMs a day. I do alot of pelvic exercises as kegels and everytime I come out of the bathroom I pull my sphincter muscle hard and release alteast 5 times everytime. This has really helped me in getting control of anything trying to come out . For thickening the output I use psyllium husk it really helps alot. You can consult your doctor for antidiarrea medicine. When I had to travel back from hospital to home they gave me those. I guess for short time taking some is fine.

I take maximum amount of Lomotil and Immodium. Also, great advice from pelvic floor doctor to buy some time to travel or swim or errands or whatever-empty out Fleet enema bottle, use warm water to rinse out pouch ( Vaseline on tip). Sometimes I do twice before heading out, I also completed pelvic floor therapy, which was helpful too.

I take exactly the dose on the package, mixed with 8 oz. of water. For years I used just sugar-sweetened Metamucil, but I now (for fewer calories) mix a half-dose of Metamucil with a half-dose of original Konsyl (which is just plain psyllium husk). My mix is a little fussy, since a measured dose of Metamucil is a different amount than Konsyl. I’ve considered eliminating the Metamucil entirely, and going to just Konsyl, but unflavored psyllium isn’t very pleasant.

You might find that you do better with a somewhat different dose. It’s easy enough to experiment with, as long as you don’t take crazy amounts with too little water.
