amitriptyline for pouch/nerve pain | The J-Pouch Group

Has anyone taken amitriptyline for pain? I've had my pouch for 4 months and am having pain that feels like my rectal muscles are being twisted and squeezed. My doctor says that this is my pouch stretching and that it will continue to get bigger for about a year to hold more. This medicine is making me gain weight, 14 pounds in the last 2 weeks and my hair has started falling out. I'm still having the pain after being on it for a month, but it has helped it happen less.
I'm just wondering if anyone else takes this or if something else is out there that would work better and wouldn't make me gain weight and lose hair.

I've taken amitriptyline for years to prevent migraine headaches. It did cause me to gain weight in the beginning, but no to much anymore. It has never caused hair loss for me, I think something else must be causing that. I do think the amitriptyline has helped me have fewer problems with my pouch.

I just went to pain management finally to ablate/spinal block nerves. Helped a great deal and my doctor has a lot of jpouch patients that he helps.
