My general health doctor was looking at my tiredness/flu-like symptoms and felt i should do an allergy test. Turns out i'm allergic to some fungus/mold, House dust mites (!they live in the bed!), cats and grass too!!!!

It's CRAZY! That's a lot of things to be allergic to!

Lately i've been feeling bad when waking up, tired, runny nose etc. so i guess that is the House dust mites, but i wonder how this new disease acts with my old "uc" disease?

I now have 3 autoimmune diseases - UC, alopecia and allergies. Will it stop? I don't want to get more autoimmune diseases and become a total wreck. I just started a 4 year long university college program to work on boats and i must be away 2-10 weeks at a time to work and function good.

So, i wonder if it is just the allergies that are causing my fatigue and such? I guess i'll have to do more tests and stuff and possibly a new pouchoscopy since i've had watery stool lately too.

But, well, do you guys have any allergies? How do they affect you?

The thing with allergies is many times they go hand in hand with something else. So it's not surprising you have allergies now as well. My friends daughter has had awful eczema since she was a baby. When she was 13 she was dx'ed with alopecia. The doctor told them its linked in with the eczema. She also allergic to certain other things. All this auto-immune stuff is connected.

I worry about my son because he is allergic to everything under the sun. No GI issues though thank goodness. Keeping my fingers and toes crosses for him. The allergies will definately cause you fatigue. My son is tired a lot. It really drains his energy and he only 10 years old.

Find a good allergy doctor...don't just go to your family doctor.
Manuel,
I have dozens of allergies that I live with without any problems most of the time. My hayfever allergies attack me from around May until October and require me to take an antihystamine daily...occasionnaly I need eye drops but other than that I am under control...my food allergies are another story...I am allergic to sulphates...all sorts of preservatives in foods and that is a problem because I do not know in advance which foods contain them...so I avoid all canned or pre-packaged foods other than frozen because they can send me into a major flare that can lead to shock or worse...I can't carry and epi-pen because they are kept stable through the use of preservatives and will send me over to the other side so my doc nixed it...
What I do do is take an anti hystamine daily to prevent my allergies from taking hold of me in the first place...in case I get a reaction anyway I just add a dose or pull out the cortisone from the fridge and hit myself with it.
Once you have one auto-immune disease you are open for more...so have your allergist talk to you about what can be done...you may need antihystamines for a long while and to change your mattress cover and your vacume cleaner too...there are always things to manage this...don't freak out.

Manuel,
Do not forget the mechanical advantages of lifestyle change too...you may have to pull up the carpets and put down a non-fiberous flooring like parquet or other linolium type flooring, pull down the curtains and put up blinds and switch the fabric sofas for leather...I had to do all of that and more but for now, a have a vacume cleaner with a HEPA filter system that I can wash and dry (no more vacume cleaner bag) and an antiacharian matress cover and quilt...I also air out my bed and bedding regularly...it is an obligation in my case...just throwing open the windows every morning helps to clear out the mould and mildew in the house...do not forget to vacume your mattress regularly and use a vinager based house cleaner to cut the presence of mould mildew especially in the dark corners.
Keep a food journal of your reactions and also note when, where, how and at what time you feel reactions to make sure that it is not environmental as well (I get reactions from potpourri, air fresheners, scented candels, wool, certain perfumes soaps and body washes that are heavily scented)...
Good luck
Sharon
