after maybe 10 years doctor recommended I stop omeprazole

Because of severe gas pain and not feeling well my doctor felt I should stop omeprazole. After stopping after 4 days I felt horribly ill with constantly going to the bathroom .extreme acid and gas in my stomach and severe butt burn, I had to call him. He had given me zantac in its place suggested 2 per day then suggested 4 per day, 2 before breakfast and 2 before dinner. I was getting acid rebound after taking omeprazole for such a long time. I am now doing really much better and thought I might let you know, guess I had been on the omeprazole for too long.
