i don't get much sleep because it seems at 11pm-12am or later I have more BMs and later during my sleep and I need sleep aids to knock out but I was wondering are Advil PMs bad to take can it cause loose stools or any kinda of anal irritation? I do take 1 Imodium before bed I was thinking  of taking Metamucil wafers 30 minutes after the Imodium i wonder if that would help at all? Your thoughts please ...

Thank you all 3 of you for your response on this topic you pretty much summed it up for me I'm gonna stop Advil PMS for a sleeping aid as of today.. I guess I'll try Tylenol Pm or some other any suggestions?

NyQuil now makes something called ZzzQuil. It comes in liquid form and liquid gel tabs. It's just a sleep aid without the medicine NyQuil has. I've used it several times when I have trouble sleeping. It doesn't seem to be habit forming. I have various aches and pains (back issues) that I use the Tylenol Pm for.

Thank you for the info I really appreciate it ... I'm gonna try that NyQuilZzz

Sleep aids can sometimes do more harm than good. Good old Benadryl can help. An even gentler solution might be melatonin. If you're waking up because you need to poop, sleep aids can make you sleep right through that signal, with unfortunate results. I things I may have previously suggested avoiding the Metamucil wafers at bedtime, but maybe that will work for you. I prefer Metamucil at dinner time, and keeping the bulk down after that. I almost always sleep through the night.

I haven't taken any wafers in days before BC of what you mentioned I ate around 7pm today but had wafers 30 minutes  before my dinner tonight but it seemed to wear off fast and back to loose stools like right now I'm snacky and I'm scared to eat a rice cake is there any way to thicken things up without eating wafers ? And I appreciate your help

please be very careful of taking NSAIDs with regularity. I have related recently either here or the fb group that a friend who has a 31 year old jpouch has 5 strictures up along her GI tract, initially they thought she had crohns, she even went to see jpouch guru Bo Shen, he dilated the strictures for her several times a few months apart. his supposition is that it was her long term NSAID use that led to the stricturing. her jpouch is pristine.

as to Zquil. personally I didn't like the taste so I just take NyQuill. but note that unless you buy the non alcohol version its has supposedly some alcohol content as I'm on low dose Flagyl at the moment it makes me nervous but so far I'm ok.

also the standard dosage is 30ml. I have realized that I can get away with taking as little as 5ml. for me as I inevitably arise middle of the night I need something that will keep me baseline drowsy so after I get up I can fall back asleep. 10ml would probably be better because sometimes with the second interruption I am too alert and trouble falling back to sleep.

I used to think it was the sleep aid that was responsible for my accidents but ive come to believe its pouchitis not the sleep aid that's the problem.
