While it makes no sense to me either, there are those who had successful treatment of butt burn by taking acid blockers, like Pepcid or Prilosec. I would suspect it was because they also had some upper GI stuff going on too, so it was sort of an added "insult." Maybe dyspepsia causes increased bile production too. In any event, there is no harm in trying it. One problem with Questran is that it also absorbs other medications, so you have to be careful not to take it near any other medication times. So, it can be a hassle. Plus, it tastes nasty. They do have a pill form, Cholestid or Whelchol, but it is more spendy.

It would be easy enough to experiment with OTC stuff.
