It was an unspeakable happiness when I heard I was accepted to medical school in May. I had UC throughout undergrad, and three complicated surgeries have left me with a temporary ileostomy. I sacrificed a lot of other aspects of my life. My personal determination helped me prevail. It's a personal triumph and I'd 'like to share it here. This forum was invaluable during my darkest times so needless to say I appreciate it.

I also emphasize this rave is intended with the utmost humility. My challenging issues may seem slight compared to the many afflictions of others caused by no fault of their own. I sincerely hope my post is merely good news from one your peers rather than a sign of arrogance.

A round of snaps to you and many joyful congratulatory shouts. It is so inspiring to hear about folks overcoming personal obstacles to pursue their passion. It is also good to have another doctor-to-be who knows exactly what it is like to struggle with surgeries and health issues that are frightening. You will be a compassionate doctor.
Thank you everyone for your kind words.

Jan -- Thank you. I am sure you remember in 2007 when I would constantly exchange PMs regarding my health. This news presents quite a contrast to those days!

Eric -- I am actually moving to Hamilton! I love Toronto but for now a change would do me good!

IT's been great news, and I hope my health doesn't get worse.
