I had J-pouch surgery almost 10 years ago and no real issues. Got pregnant and now have a 3 year old daughter. Want 1 more child but found out for some reason my tubes are blocked and planning to go ahead with IVF but have been having this abdominal pain near my ileostomy and getting it checked before I spend the money for IVF. I am worried that it will be something that is serious and require plans for IVF to be put on hold or even canceled. I have had this pain for at least a year now if not since I had C-section in 2010. It isn’t a horrible pain just don't want to take change of getting pregnant and something happening. It is worse in the evening after eating dinner. During the day when I eat very light I feel faint pain off and on but after dinner it is a constant pain till I fall asleep. Has anybody had this?

Sounds like you have a partial obstruction from adhesions related to your old ostomy site. This is the most common site for this issue. You could run this by your GI or surgeon and see if it is significant enough to have taken care of before attempting IVF. I agree that if you think you might need an invasive procedure, like adhesion surgery, better to deal with that first. It could worsen with pregnancy, or it could improve too.

Well thanks Jan. Went up to Mayo clinic this week and had CT and scopes done and waiting on biopsy to come back but they saw a narrowing of my small intestines so they are pretty sure I have Crohn's now just waitinn until Monday for results. I don't have any other symptoms of crohn's though so I will just wait for them to call then maybe I can get back to IVF. Glad I went to check before trying IVF.
