So MRI of my kidney after 5 years since cryoablation of a possible cancerous lesion has been officially clear!! scan noted this dilated bile duct, and I of course assume I have PSC. I do have a gallbladder completely filled with stones for years but docs don't want to risk taking it out until it needs to come out. I have abdominal pains for years but docs feel its adhesion pains from 10+ surgeries. Saw my new GI this morning and she said no indications its PSC as MRI did not note any biliary duct issues in the liver. She stated that PSC usually is a different pattern on the MRI. Also all my liver labs and enzymes are all within range. Stated we can do an ultrasound and labs in 6 months to check on things but other than the 9mm common bile duct, I do not have any other symptoms or elevated liver labs. I asked her what could be causing the bile duct to dilate if not PSC related. She said it could be that a small stone is either in there or was in there but passed, and the MRI doesn't see it. She said the ultrasound would give a  better look at this. I am still terrified I have PSC

Even if you have PSC it doesn't mean you're out of the game.  I've got PSC, and have been able to keep my liver enzyme levels normal for a few years. (PTL).  It doesn't keep the scare from being there (my brother died of it), but it does not keep me from living today.  With your enzyme levels normal, I'd not worry too much about it until you experience other liver issues.  Now that is also a warning not to abuse the liver with too much alcohol or other junk.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying.. I very rarely drink anymore.. What other "junk"? you said "until I experience other liver issues"? how do you know I will? im concerned with this common bile duct issue, if there isn't a stone causing it what is?

I wish I knew the answer to your question, but I don't.  To be honest, I'm with you and wish the doctor would order a test to figure it out, but I'm not sure they can or will.  I've had a lot CT scans, ultra-sounds, and MRI's on my liver to monitor the PSC, but I've never personally faced what you're experiencing.  I hope you are able to get the answers you seek.

An ERCP procedure should resolve any issues.  My suggestion would be Indiana University Gastro for gold standard  service.

so how would that ERCP procedure make my common bile duct dilation resolve? im confused, also I am with Cleveland Clinic who is 10 minutes from me so not going to travel out of state for something they could do
