I've been on Immuran (azithromicine), which I understand is similar to 6mp, for 2 years after 2 years of other unsuccessful efforts to get my chronic refractory pouchitis under control. I also rotate antibiotics along with it. (Rotating antibiotics alone didn't work, and when I stopped antibiotics while on the Immuran, pouchitis symptoms began to return, so for me it seems to be the combo of both together that is doing the trick). 2 years ago I cried when I saw my scope because my pouch was an angry hot mess-moderate with areas of severe. Since adding the Immuran, 2 years later I was recently scoped, and that baby was beautiful! Light pink and healthy and not riddled with ulcers anymore. Healthy with a few minor areas of mild.

This has been my godsend, and no noticeable side effects. Got labs done monthly the first year, now just every 3 months.
