I am finding it extremely difficult to deal with the loud noises coming every time I pass gas. Is there anyone out there who can pass silently, or is that just an impossibility?
Thanks!

For most people with a pouch passing gas at all is an impossibility. So your already one up on most. Posture probably plays a big part. If you sat down you could probably manoeuvre yourself to open the cheeks a little. That may help
Silently as in 5 out of 10 times the guy in the next toilet woudnt notice, but sometimes its pretty loud, enough to wake up the guy in the next building 🤣
I pass gas without issues, sometimes silently and sometimes not so silently.
I think we’ll understand each other better if we distinguish between passing gas on the toilet vs. passing gas off the toilet. For many (most?) of us these are very different experiences.
Oh, I wish I could pass gas like I used to. Now, with my jpouch if I feel some bubbles I have to head to the bathroom and sit. If I relax my sphincter muscles I pass stool and gas therefore the “silent but deadlies” are a thing of my past.
Agrees with the rest of those who posted- I can’t pass gas without worrying I had an accident. I find it only is safe to do when I’m on the toilet.
I can amlost always pass gas off the toilet when I am sitting or lying down. Infact I do that all night . I know it coz I can feel it going through my system. My brain alarms me if its an urge to go to empty the pouch instead. But truth be told gas is hardest to hold back. Its a risk to pass it without having a toilet nearby.
Yeah when I am off the toilet it’s also very easy for me to pass gas. I eat yogurt every day which creates natural gas and not the bad gas from inflammation related to bad bacteria or SIBO. With some of the comments in this thread there are questions in my mind about whether proper diets are being eaten and also whether any inflammation that is present is being properly treated. No conclusions should be drawn one way or the other because of these individual variables.
Never silently! I am having issues with severe gas however I am learning that some cannot pas gas at all! When I pass gas it is always loud! A lot louder than before my surgery.
why would you want to pass gas silently? Sneak attack?
On the toilet during a bm, sometimes I pass gas without much noise and sometimes not.
On the couch, in bed, sitting in a chair? You bet!
No problems passing gas either way for me.
