after 2 years of my gallbladder being filled with stones I think I’m nearing the time for it to come out. In the past 2 months I’ve been having some discomfort between my shoulder blades in my back and middle upper stomach right below my sternum. Dr Shens office stated could experience pouchitis like symptoms after the surgery. I’m reading diarrhea could get worse? I already have very minimal leakage so scared it will get a lot worse after this surgery. I have a few days to decide if I want it out before years end as this will save me a ton of money with out of pocket expense after insurance.  I don’t want to rush into this but if I’m starting to have symptoms it needs to come out right?

Who here has had theirs out and what did you experience with your pouch after? Thanks

I had mine out as an emergency, but that was before my pouch. Done laparoscopically and didn’t have any problems. I was back to work the following week. Have you checked in with your pouch surgeon or gastro? There may be scar tissue they’ll have to get through. Otherwise, my suggestion is if it’s causing problems, get it out. You don’t want to have to go into emergency surgery or be in a super amount of pain!!
