Is there anyone on here who is from WI? I just recently underwent my final surgery (IPAA) and am looking for someone to chat with about ups and downs, advice, etc. So glad that I found this site! I've been having a hard time getting used to the changes and it's good to know that there is somewhere to go where I can feel like I'm not going through this alone.

I just recently moved back to Wisconsin after being medically separated from the Air Force due to my UC issues. I was diagnosed with UC in July of 2011 and shortly after had to have an emergency removal of my entire large intestine. I had my last surgery for the take down January 2012. I've yet to meet anyone else with a pouch and just came across this group and your post about Wisconsin because I was wondering the same thing, so to answer both our questions, yes, there are at least two of us in Wisconsin hahaha.

I see you're a little over six months out of your final surgery, I think the first six months to a year were the hardest for me. It gets better everyday though, and I'm feeling pretty good now everything considered. A lot of trial and error with diet, and learning to live with more frequent trips to the bathroom. I might not be the most knowledgeable about some stuff but I'd be happy to help if you're still looking to vent or ask questions.

I am also in Wisconsin near Milwaukee.  I would agree with DANGAGE, the first 6 months to a year are tough.  I am 13 1/2 years post take down and although I am not "Normal" per say but a heck of a lot better then 14 years ago.  You will have to experiment with your diet as you progress.   Salads are a tough one for me along with anything with red sauce (pasta, pizza...).

Feel free to ask any questions you have.
