I have had a pretty smooth pregnancy, up until last weekend, when I started having contractions. I was in L&D last Saturday and Sunday night due to contractions, they were able to stop them both times and I was only a "finger tip" dilated. I've been on "bed rest" at home since. The problem is that since the contractions I've not been feeling well. I've been misserable, and my stomach feels like it's been hit by a truck. I haven't had much of an appetite and not been able to go to the bathroom very easily. I feel like my baby has possibly moved into a position that is compromising my jpouch. He seems to stay up in my diaphragm and front right side. I'm suppose to go back to work Monday, but really don't have the energy. I'm so tired and weak all the time. I've lost about 5 lbs since last weekend. I'm going to call my OB on Monday and try to get in to see her. I feel like I know my body pretty well and that I should feel better by now. Anyone had similar problems or advice?

Hi Chayes, I had a similar problem when contractions hit for me, about a week before I was scheduled for a C-section. I was super miserable and hardly ate due to the pain, nausea, diarrhea, etc... Also lost like 5 pounds that last week. What got me through was some leftover pain meds from surgery (oxycodone I think). I checked to make sure it was "safe" for pregnancy first. Also took zofran. I was able to keep some food down and somewhat function after that. Without it I was basically spending all day on the floor or in bed in pain :/

Definitely check with your Ob-Gyn since you still have several weeks to go! You don't want to be losing all that weight in your last month. Hopefully they find a solution to keep you functioning well.

I'm so sorry you are in pain! Look at it this way- every day you can keep the little one inside of you, the better it is for your baby. Take it one day at a time, and if at all possible, try to keep to your bedrest instructions.  I had twins, and had a really hard time eating toward the end, too. Smoothies helped to get much needed calories in, and I almost lived off of the "wellness bowls" from Jamba Juice in the last few weeks. They were similar to smoothies, but had oats  and peanut butter blended in, which provided much needed calories.

Look into your state's
Coverage for time off due to illness.  Some states will provide disability coverage if you have a high risk pregnancy. If your doctor thinks you should remain on bedrest, they can provide the authorization to stop work.

You're almost there!
