Stabbing Pain in Rectum

Has anybody else experienced sharp or dull stabbing pains in their rectal area when your pouch is full and you need to pass stool? This happens to me on and off, and has always been relieved by going to the bathroom. It is always L-side of rectal area, kind of deep inside. Today it has not been relieved by passing stool and has been ongoing. My doc said sometimes it could be due to the staple line from the surgery. I had my pouch surgery in 2000, so no recent surgeries.
