Reply to "Problems with Oatmeal"

My pouch seems to love oatmeal.  I typically top it with fruit and that can cause issues (fresh blueberries are a no-no but are fine if I cook them in the oatmeal). I wanted to point out there were three types of oatmeal-the sugary, processed, flavored type that tend to come in packets, the slow cooked oats such as traditional, plain Quaker Oats and steel cut oats. The processed flavored oatmeal can take 60 to 90 seconds in the microwave, the slow cooked oats take a couple of minutes on the stove top and in the microwave and the steel cut take quite a bit longer, I believe up to 20 minutes to cook. Steel cut oats have a lot of fiber. If that’s the type you’re eating, that could be the problem and you may need to start with the more processed type (least amount of fiber) or try the slow cooked oats (some fiber but less than steel cut).  The pouch changes over time so I agree, give it a try again down the road.
