The meds should help you. It can become chronic is some cases, but it is usually very treatable with canasa. You may eventually need to move to a maintenance dose (say once nightly 2 times a week or whatever you GI suggests) for a bit before stopping it entirely. If you are not getting relief, they can presrcibe anucort suppositories (which has a steriod in it). They are reluctant to do this though as they do not want you on it for a long period of time due to thinning of your tissues in the cuff/anastomosis area. The first line of treatment that is most benign is canasa.
