Pouchitis and Fistulas

Is there a connection between chronic pouchitis and fistuals? I have a new fistual and the site where I had a fistualotomy last spring is active again. My surgeon has scheduled me for a seton and next Wednesday. She wants to look at my pouch and see if she can see what is causing the fistuals. She said that there is portion of the pouch that might be causing all these fistuals. And if that is the case then she might be able to remove that diseased portion of the pouch. Has anyone had that type of pouch correction done? It gave me hope! I don't like just trying new meds, as it seems like it is just putting a bandaide on the issue. If there is a method to fix the pouch I different want to try it!
