Positive takedown experience!

Hi everybody! I wanted to make a post for anybody worried about takedown. I know every case is different but I too was very concerned with takedown and how things would be after, etc. I had the 2 step surgery. My takedown was 10 weeks after the first surgery. I have indeterminate colitis and had a rough go with the first surgery. An ileus. Terrible tailbone pain and an awful time with my ostomy bag (although it did get better towards the end). Anyways, I just had my takedown 5 days ago. I got home yesterday so I was in the hospital only 3 days! The pain was sooo much less than the first surgery. I was up and around the day of surgery. Had my first bm at the 24 hour mark and was eating food the night of my surgery...I was very cautious as I was terrified I was going to get an ileus but it didn’t happen! I made sure to walk a lot and I found I was able to get around soo well. Most of my discomfort was from bloating and trapped gas/air. I started passing stool before gas which was a little concerning but by the second postop day, the gas was passing too! Now I am home and doing well! I’m probably having around 12 stools a day so far which I know is normal. They are pretty watery but not painful and not really that inconvenient. The bms are quick so that’s good. I’m drinking a lot of fluids and trying to thicken my stools with food so that I can put off the Imodium a little longer as I’m a little nervous about adding that too soon. I’m using some paste for my butt and ordering a bidet. Last night I slept great! Slept a full 8 hours and did not need to have a bm. No nighttime accidents either. So anyways, that’s where I’m at right now! Hopeful things will stay on track and improve weekly but also trying to remember that things can be up and down, so will be ready to take on whatever comes my way next!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
