Oil of oregano

I have been taking oil of oregano supplement for a couple months and have had three incidents in which I wake after a couple hours of sleep to excruciating pain when swallowing. My mouth fills with saliva and when swalllowing, it feels like a scraping against my esophagus. I spend the remainder of the night spitting in the toilet because I can't swallow. I looked up side effects of oil of oregano and it may be the cause. Wanted to reach out to see if anyone else may have experienced these symptoms. Thanks in advance for any comments that may help!
