Life and raising money for Crohns and Colits Research

Hello All

I know I haven't been on in awhile, but I really wanted to check in with my own rave and ask for your support.

For the first time since the pancreatitis last fall, me and my body are in a happy detente. Not even last week's lukewarm pouchoscopy results are going to quiet my new optimism. This started in January when I decided that I was done feeling sick and low all the time. I've made a number of changes, and including deciding to challenge myself. I wanted to accomplish something that I've always talked about, but never believed I could actually do. Well I did it. I found a way to get back on my bike and a way to raise money to help others with Chrohns and Colitis. Two weeks from today (June 24th) i'm participating in the CC Team Challenge, a 50 mile bike ride in Lake George NY to raise money for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. So far this has been an amazing experience. Not only have I met great people, i've met physical challenges that I never thought I could. Yesterday I rode over 60 miles from Broadway Junction in Brooklyn to my Dad's house in Middle Island (LI). It was amazing biking through places where I have only ever driven. The look of shock on people's faces when I responded to the question of where I was riding from and where I was headed was mind blowing. While I know that I may not be the fastest or most well-equipped rider on June 24th, I know that I will succeed. My certainty surprises even me.

I will also be accepting advice, bike parts, ice packs, love and a personal cheering section on June 24th! In particular, I want advice picking out the perfect wicking shirt. I want to celebrate my no colon and j-pouch status Smiler I'd love it if I could get the 'No colon and still rollin' one in that material..

Thanks fellow j-pouchers.
