Doug, if all goes well you will eventually need to pee more often than you need to empty your pouch. It’s well worth practicing keeping these muscles under separate control, but it can take time and patience to get the hang of it. I’m not sure how much of this you can accomplish (if any) before takedown, because the sensations really are quite different once it’s poop instead of that slippery stuff you get (at the anus) when you have a loop ileostomy. Probably simple kegels are your best bet for now.
