Dr. Shen doxycycline/glucose to heal sinus

Has anyone heard of or had success with Dr. Shen's doxycycline/glucose concoction to heal a sinus. My son had his 2nd pouch removed and has a persistent rectal sinus for almost 2yrs that leaks all the time. Dr. Shen wants to try inserting this solution of doxycycline/glucose. He will do the first one and my son will do it every day on his own for 4-6 weeks. We thought it was worth a try to avoid any more surgeries. But I can't really find any info on this procedure.
