CMV infection is mostly associated with being immune compromised. The case noted in the article in this link is typical. http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com...9887be41901a83b2dbb0

What I find as being rather bizaare is the fact you were treated with 6MP, another immune supressant, when antiviral meds are the only treatment specific to CMV infection I have ever heard of.
