You described the symptoms. They are similar to pouchitis, except I don't think blood is a pouchitis symptom. I let things get so bad I had a stool full of blood before I saw my surgeon. He diagnosed me without doing a flex sig scope and didn't take biopsies. Cuffitis occurs where your pouch is attached to your remaining bit of rectum. He missed the c.diff infection I had as well. I waited to see him for the 1 year check up. He was great immediately after the surgeries and did a super job of helping me manage my diet, Metamucil and Imodium for several months.
Because I'd been educated by the members here I drove home and made an appointment with my local GI. He did a flex sig, scope and discovered I had c.diff as well. I was really ill and scared.
Many surgeons care for their j-pouch patients after the surgeries. My surgeon is a wonderfully skilled surgeon, that was trained at the Cleveland Clinic. He's just too busy to handle the after care beyond the surgery follow ups.
I don't know if your surgeon provides the after care or how long it's been since your surgeries. I would still recommend going to your surgeon first.
I hope you are feeling better soon
