Now on doxxyxline rather then amox-clav  and notice burning is worse then ever. Is there anyone can suggest something I take orally or even topiclly  that might help the horrible burning. Its so painful and I don't fistualas just bad inflamation. Any good advice might help me, thank you and God Bless. Mikey

Hello, Mikeey. Are you using a bidet after every BM to wash away all trace of residue? Anything left behind will cause more burning skin. No wiping, no matter how soft and expensive the toilet paper is, just gentle dabbing to thoroughly and completely dry the area. Then apply a diaper rash cream. I used to use Calmoseptine but stopped because the menthol, which was cooling in the first few weeks, can irritate broken skin. I started using plain Zincofax, the cream used on babies for their diaper rash, which is really what the burning is. Whenever I need to use it, the healing begins within hours. if you don't have an attachment bidet for your existing toilet, a simple bidet squeeze bottle works wonders and it is travel size.

Since my bathroom is very small I use warm to hot water to cleans myself, it works very well, use soft charmin and it helps me. Its only when I must go to the bathroom very often at times, I get horrible irritable , and have used all the above products but none that seems to give me any relief . Will definitely buy zincofax and give it a try.

Thank you so much Winterberry, have a great day and God Bless

Michael

I suggest to cleanse area with wet wipes, then pat dry with paper kitchen towel not toilet paper, then apply ilex paste.

Once ilex been applied, use wet wipes to cleanse after each BM and pat dry with the kitchen roll, until you become accustomed to using ilex.

I find toilet paper tends to drag and  tear when the ilex has been applied.

If affected area is not bleeding of oozing, just spread a small pea size amount of ilex over the affected area and reapply after each BM.

Due to the ilex, during cleansing, the area will feel sticky and a little messy but the wet wipes can easily overcome this and it'll be worth it to alleviate  your discomfort

I use sensitive skin baby wipes to cleanse the area.  I have to stay away from spicy foods and dairy always!  Any food allergies?  If I eat any form of dairy I get a bright red burning itchy rash down there.  It hurts wicked.  Once I stopped dairy it went away.  A high percentage of ulcerative colitis and crohns oatients are highly allergic to dairy.

I feel for you!  The first 6-8 weeks werevery hard for me... bathroom trips were 20-25 times a day. I was miserable...

What worked for me was using gauze soaked in baby oil...  it was a miracle worker for me...  I used it in place of toilet paper when wiping (or patting).

Sometimes it would itch so so bad , so I would put cornstarch on after the baby oil.  I kept a container of gauze soaked baby oil and cornstarch in each bathroom.  My surgeon also prescribed me a lidocaine gel to use as needed..

It was a rough patch, but I am doing so much better... working on "training" my J pouch so I don't have to go to the bathroom 5 minutes after I start eating .

Definitely try the baby oil & cornstarch.. those two were lifesavers for me...

Sure hope the steroid cream will help you.
