hi all, I am 38 and have had my pouch for about 9 years. Dr. Fazio gave me my life back and for that I'm thankful.   I've never experienced any complications or dysfunction after my surgeries.  I occasionally get pouchitis which is cleared up with a dose of cipro.  Recently I've experienced tailbone pain along with minor symptoms of pouchitis.  I'm a patient of dr. Bo Shen at the Cleveland Clinic who is amazing.  immediately after I was put on cipro the tailbone grew less and less painful to where now I have no pain there after 2 weeks of cipro.  My pouchitishi symptoms are gone as well.  I see dr. Bo Shen next week for my annual pouchoscopy but was wondering what to expect when I see him.  Knowing that the tailbone pain subsided with cipro I know something is going on.  I've read abscesses and tears can happen.  Ugh this makes me nervous since I was 9 years going strong with no issues!  Help!

I don't know what he'll tell you, but I hope you let us know. A couple of years ago I developed significant tailbone pain (it was worst when getting off a chair - I would make quite a face getting off the stationary bicycle). I never really did much about it, and it very slowly receded and is now essentially gone. OTOH I've been on antibiotics the whole time, more or less, so who knows?
