I've read studies about the positive effects of Milk Thistle on PSC. Results look promising, but the studies done so far have been informal and more official studies need to be conducted. There is quite a bit of literature on this topic on the web and on the NIH (National Institutes of Health) web site. When I take Milk Thistle daily, my liver tests are great. If I stop taking it, the enzyme levels gradually rise a bit. Side effects appear to be minimal or none, but until official studies are conducted, all side effects may not be known. This herb has been used in Europe for a very long time. My take is that there isn't enough profit in this herb so pharma companies don't bother doing official double-blind studies.
