I have taken Immu-probio probiotics 50 billion cfu ,dairy free and gluten free. for some time, took one per day now take 2 a day, I was on antibiotics for years for problems with J pouch have been off for almost 3Months. VSL3 made me ill  for some reason, cultuelle or align did nothing. The Immu probio need refrigeration and been told sometimes if not refridgerated it loses potency, so would like to know if anyone is taking a great probiotic with at least 50 billion cfu that they can suggest.

I also would like to start eating  yogurt in addition to probiotics as I feel since I have taken so much antibiotics the more good bacteria I put in my system is good, but dont know if taking both might be too much?

Thanks so much.

The people at The Center for Applied Nutrition (UMass Medical School who put together the IBD-AID diet ) suggest a probiotic from Klaire Labs. I've ordered it but haven't tried it yet. I mention it only because it appears the UMass people are pretty invested in research. The one I ordered has 25 billion CFUs so I will need to experiment and take more than one. I can't afford VSL#3 anymore.

I also think reducing starch in the diet can help or at least it makes sense to me that it could help in that there wouldn't be a bunch of undigested fermenting carbohydrates left in the gut to alter the gut microbiota.

I couldn't take VSL3 either.  My dr said it doesn't have to a expensive brand as long as it was over 50 billion and a high bifidio, lactob.  I have been taking Vitamin Shoppe brand Ultimate 10 probiotic targeted release high bifido formula 50 billion.  It's about $49 for 2 month supply if u take 1 a day.  I usually get when they are running a sale, I have credits.  It's been good for me.
