I am 2.5 months out from my reversal surgery and am doing pretty good overall.  My 2 issues are lack of sleep and pressure in my rectum.  The pressure comes when ( I think) stool is being pushed through my intestine.  It lasts about 5 seconds and then Stops.  It will do this every 10 - 15 minutes until I go to the bathroom.  Does this pain get better or lessen over time? Thanks for any comments.

My pouch is 4 months old post takedown.  I had this at first and I thought it was related to stretching because I try to hold for a bit.  It certainly got better overall but I would still have Times like that...and it was eventually deemed to be spasms and now I use levsin (hyoscyamine) as needed which really seems to help too.  And, gas sometimes gives me that feeling too. I lay on my stomach, and try to let it pass...literally.

i too have the pressure/pain although it can last for hours and not always relieved with evacuation.  alas, i'm having the j pouch removed, although it is more because of the pouchitis and other nasty anal pain issues, which i will spare you.

point of writing is pain control.  i take lyrica, 150 mg 2X daily to help with anal as well as lumbar pain.  i think it helps.  haven't gone off it for the official test.  also take 2 mg of tizanadine, which is a muscle relaxant.  that somewhat helps.  if you are not adverse to more meds you might try them.  also, i meditate, which aside for the spiritual component i think helps control pain.  so there's my 2 cents....  be well, jlh
